    Description
    Inspection, design, and analysis of new and existing marine structures.


    Responsibilities include:


    Conduct field inspections of dry dock facilities to survey the condition of structures for the basis of issuing certification, if the condition so warrants.

    Field inspections require travel to shipyard facilities, typically as a two man inspection team. Engineers are expected to travel approximately 1 week a month.

    Clientele are shipyards located in coastal cities around the US (Maine, Connecticut, Virginia, Florida, Alabama, Texas, California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, etc.).

    It is the nature of work for the US NAVY or US Coast Guard to be an indirect beneficiary. As such, job assignments typically require access into secure shipyard facilities.

    Access requires a valid driver's license, current passport, proof of US citizenship and the ability to pass a background check.

    Candidates must have the ability and desire to climb ladders and navigate ballast tanks.


    Inspections jobs require candidates to take visual inspection notes and perform condition assessment calculations, write reports, and prepare other deliverables required to justify the certification of facilities or structures.

    Results of survey will require the candidates to provide the client with technical advice to improve the structure or direct the client to perform maintenance to ensure the facility upholds a safe and reliable status.

    Design of new structures will require directing and assisting with the production of design level drawings and details. Experience with developing drawings in AutoCAD is required.


    Design analytics will be conducted using first principle method calculations and /or Finite Element Analysis software to determine safe capacities for operational limitations for structures.

    Structures are primarily steel. Additionally, control reviews on work done completed by other engineers will be required.


    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
    Licensure as a P.E. (Professional Engineer) in Civil Engineering is preferred
    2-7 years of experience in structural analysis and design Ability to climb structures and inspect confined spaces Ability in Excel, Word, and AutoCAD
    US citizenship required
