    Summary



    The position is located in the Division of Nursing Services; Inpatient Department (Intensive Care Unit), at Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM. The primary purpose is to function as a member of the Nursing Executive Team to manage, plan, and organize nursing care to ensure compliance with polices, procedures, guidelines, and applicable standards are met.

    • As first level supervisor, plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates the work of nursing personnel and ultimately responsible for patient care in Intensive Care Unit.
    • Collaborates with the Assistant Chief Nurse Executive-Inpatient and medical staff in the establishment of clinic objectives consistent with the goals and mission of the agency. Participates with the ambulatory nursing performance improvement coordinator to assure compliance with the Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards.
    • Perform nursing care duties, maintain nursing skills to cover staff shortages by performing patient assessment (triages, treatment and evaluation) on all ages of patients.
    • Manage the clinical unit by providing adequate staffing, unit organizational functions, unit safety and communications are plan and information is disseminated to the staff.
    • Resolves grievances and complaints.
    • Maintain competency in nursing skills, knowledge, practices, procedures, leadership and management.
