    Position Summary

    Project Engineers act as the technical lead for engineering projects.

    They direct, coordinate, and oversee the project design team in the execution of the mechanical, systems, and electrical design of equipment for the metallurgical, specialty metals, and aerospace industries by providing in-depth technical guidance and supervision.



    Job Responsibilities

    / Act as an engineering project team leader by providing assignments, overseeing work, and providing detailed technical guidance for the design team.

    / Responsible for approving, in detail, all final designs, design changes, specifications, and drawing releases and ensuring their compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.

    / Research, analyze, plan, organize, and coordinate all engineering design efforts for a given project, including the development of engineering project schedule, budget, and staffing needs to support overall program goals.

    / Conduct internal and external design reviews that address project requirements and incorporate input from customers, vendors, engineering colleagues, designers, and operations personnel.

    / Develop clear and concise engineering specifications for design and/or procurement of subsystems, components, and engineering services.

    / Provide technical support for the Sales Department including System sizing analysis, equipment conceptual and detailed layouts, customer visits, and cost analysis.

    / Review documents such as customer design specifications and requests for quotes to determine feasibility of design and applicability of Retech products to customer needs.

    / Generate high quality written reports, proposals, instructions, manuals, and other documentation that may be distributed to customers, internal users, or the public at large.

    / Provides reports on the status of project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly.

    / Support fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.

    / Develop written methods and procedures for testing equipment and systems.

    Requirements


    Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required

    / BSME from a four-year college or university.

    / Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a Mechanical/Electrical Engineer, Project Engineer, or similar, preferably designing high temperature furnaces, heavy material handling equipment, or other capital equipment.

    / Experience with Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, or another 3D CAD program.

    / General understanding of OSHA requirements as it applies to capital equipment.

    / Experience in the design and sizing of vacuum systems is a plus.

    / Experience in the design of material handling equipment.

    / Experience with industrial schematics or P&IDs.

    / Working knowledge of Vacuum Metallurgy and various melting technologies.

    / Ability to develop project plans, maintain project schedules, adhere to budget.

    / Working knowledge of recognized industry standards.

    / Ability to perform heat transfer analysis and energy balance on complex systems.

    / Strong stress analysis skills.

    / Working knowledge of FEA analysis.

    Physical Demands

    / The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, hear and talk.

    / The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

    / Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.

    / The work environment is an office setting with periodic need to visit the plant floor.

    / This position may be required to work long hours extending into the weekends on some occasions. May also need to travel for short or extended trips as needed. Must be able and willing to travel to international and domestic sites for sales, installation, and customer service support.

    Salary Description

    $60,000 - $90,000 based on experience
