We are currently recruiting for an experienced and skilled journeyman level professional to maintain, service and repair the housing units as part of our North Regional Upgrade Crew based out of Redmond, Washington.
This position is represented by the Seattle King County Building Trades Council.This is journey level work maintaining, servicing, repairing, and upgrading public housing residential units; appliances and equipment; and housing properties.
The core focus for this role will be drywall finishing and painting; however, additional, work includes:CarpentryPlumbingElectricalBuilding HVAC workResponding to over-time emergency calls (as needed)
King County Housing Authority (KCHA) is the largest provider of affordable housing in the Pacific Northwest and a nationally recognized leader in affordable housing.
Installing framing for both structural and nonstructural repairs; building new walls with wood and metal studs; installing fire blocking and structural/nonstructural blocking; hanging sheetrock; installing insulation and underlayment.
Finishing drywall after repairs; installing corner beads; taping and mudding corners and seams to both existing sheetrock and new sheetrock; sanding textures, priming and painting walls.
Painting doors, millwork, caulking, spackling, sanding millwork, masking, and spraying paints.Performing fire, water, and mold damage restoration; conducting structural repairs, replacement of exterior doors and windows, roofing, siding, and installing and finishing sheetrock.
Designing and carrying out plans for electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical work orders; determining work requirements, materials, tools, and equipment needed; completing write up material lists for jobs and researching vendor, product, and costs; reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, specifications, and manuals.
Supporting special project team and site staff as needed.Qualifications and Competencies Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED ANDJourney Level status in a building and/or construction trade ANDConsiderable experience (3+ to 5 years) in construction and/or maintenance of residential buildings.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of:
Industry, organization, and departmental operating guidelines, best practices, ordinances and laws.
One or more of the following:
carpentry, plumbing, painting & drywall, appliance, electrical, HVAC, Re-pinning locks, Window Glazing repairs and maintenance
The ability to:
Make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; perform measurements.
Communicate effectively in oral and written form and multitask.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Authority management, employees, vendors, and the public.
Skill in preparing and interpreting work orders, drawings, schematics, CNA (Comprehensive Needs Assessments) of properties, and preventive maintenance records.
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, fire panels, work phone operation, and maintenance equipment.
Special Requirements:
Consent to and pass a driver's and criminal records background check.
Must possess a valid driver's license in order to travel regularly between work sites.
Consent to and pass a Physical Abilities Test and required assessments.
Completion of PPE, Environmental safety, CPR/First Aid, De-escalation, Asbestos & Lead Base paint, Trailer Operation, Hazardous materials and waste disposal, and Small Equipment Safety training within one year of hire.

The starting salary for this position is $ $45.27 per hour depending on experience and education. The full salary schedule is $ $47.76 per hour.
