The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MBS) Coordinator is responsible for overall organization of the MBS program and oversees the staff of the MBS program. This position plans, directs, and monitors operations at practice sites to achieve excellence in the delivery of patient. This role is responsible for developing services or programs for revenue enhancement, marketing, and performance improvement efforts, while creating an inspiring and rewarding work environment for staff. The MBS Coordinator performs daily functions of Bariatric patient care. In addition, this position educates patients and staff for appropriate care of Bariatric patients.
Required : Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
Required Experience : At least one year of experience in medical practice management. Experience using electronic health records.
Required Certification & Licensures: Hold a current, active license as a licensed practical nurse in Virginia. Hold a current, active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) course completion card.
Preferred Certification & Licensures: CMPE (Certified Medical Practice Executive) certification.
Responsibilities
Develops services/programs and business plans, in conjunction with CMG Managing Directors, Medical Director, and key stakeholders, to manage revenue and expenses, and ensure optimal performance outcomes.
Oversees all aspects of patient registration, billing, and financial management for the practice(s) site, including preparation of financial and administrative reports with outcome and/or variance data.
Plans, coordinates, manages, and documents the care provided to assigned patients.
Leads, communicates and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to plan patient care.
Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG).
Participates in service recovery and uses appropriate resources during complex situations.
Serve as a liaison between the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MBS) center and Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).
Screens patients, and provides perioperative and postoperative nursing care.
Manages the accreditation process, and ensures continuous compliance with MBSAQIP requirements.
Develops and maintains MBS policies, protocols and procedures.
Develops and maintains appropriate patient educational materials.
Educates staff regarding protocols, procedures and documentation to promote patient safety and prevention of adverse events.
Assists in development, implementation, and data collection for quality improvement initiatives around metabolic and bariatric surgery.
May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time.
