- Provide administrative support at the direction of the Intake Specialist
- Ability to operate a personal computer to access email, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software
- Locate, compile and format information into reports, graphs, tables, records and other sources of information within Microsoft Office applications and other software programs
- Accurate tracking of units and authorizations of services
- Data entry and generation of reports as requested from electronic health record (EHR)
- Prepare paperwork in order to perform billing functions
- Ensure and verify insurance eligibility through Forward Health Portal
- Complete, obtain, and track prior authorizations within Forward Health Portal and from HMOs
- Complete and submit CMS1500 to insurance companies
- Submit claims directly into Forward Health and HMOs portals
- Process and track authorizations and billable services through county billing portal
- Manage credentialing of providers for funding sources and within CAQH
- Follow all confidentiality/ HIPAA guidelines
- Complete medical records request
- Interact professionally with clients, co-workers, supervisors, public and private customers and potential customers
- Supports the goals of the agency's mission
- Other duties as assigned by the Intake Specialist and/or other department supervisors i.e. Director of Human Services

Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for tasks related to preparing and entering billing of Milwaukee County contracted services and insurances and obtaining prior authorizations for Medicaid and Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). Has experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Microsoft Office application in order to support all tasks related to billing.

Essential/Primary Duties:
Qualifications:
Minimum of High School Diploma or G.E.D. Knowledge of Medicaid billing preferred. Previous experience in a clerical position required. Experience with Microsoft Office applications i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook. Basic writing and math ability, organizational skills and ability to handle an array of complex office functions. Bilingual (Spanish-English) strongly desired.
Working Conditions:
Departmental business hours with the possibility of evenings and weekends as necessary. 24-hour emergency availability. Travel in community. Home visits.
