    Description

    Job Summary

    The primary responsibility of the Staff Accountant is to assist with journal entries, bank reconciliations, month-end close, reviewing invoices and special projects as needed.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Essential
    • Assists in preparing and reviewing financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annually).
    • Ensures information is complete and accurate for month-end close to meet Company established deadlines and standards.
    • Assist with monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
    • Prepares and completes general ledger entries.
    • Supports the daily activities of Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) as needed.
    • Assist with internal and external financial audit processes and ensure that financial controls and policies are followed.
    • Assist with vendor applications, set-up, and maintenance.
    • Reviews and audits monthly corporate credit card expense reports.
    • Maintains accrual records and amortization schedules.
    • Maintains the fixed asset records and monthly depreciation entries.
    • Occasionally back-up cash application specialist posting customer payments and lockbox activity.
    • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as needed.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Required
    • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of Accounting experience in a similar role.
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
    • Must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give clear oral directions and explanations.
    • Must have solid attention to detail to ensure accuracy of information.
    • Strong organization and time management skills required.
    • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
    • Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, and act in a professional manner to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
    • Able to learn company systems and processes.
    • Adheres to the companys values and ethical expectations.
    Preferred
    • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, CPA a plus
    • Experience in lubricant industry, fuel industry, or transportation industry.
    • Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel utilizing pivot tables, formulas, and data mining.
