Schedule

The position requires a 3x12s day or night shift variable, scheduled as needed by the client, including every other weekend, holidays, and 2 on-call shifts per 4 weeks.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical skills, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The RN on 3 North develops specialized skills in caring for patients admitted for medical conditions.

Responsibilities

• Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
• Assesses patient/family needs through active listening and observation.
• Creates individualized plans of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Promotes and protects the health, safety, and rights of patients.
• Educates patients and families to support care and healing at home.
• Documents education provided and patient/family responses.
• Engages in quality improvement activities and self-evaluation of practice.
• Strives to create a Healing Environment as a key element of professional nursing practice.
• Demonstrates skill in medication administration and patient care interventions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current New York State Registered Nurse Licensure required.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS.
• One (1) year of experience serving in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse required.
