    Senior Civil Engineer - Public Works

    This is a full-time opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer - Public Works in our Denver, CO office.

    The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience and be a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Colorado with Public Works projects.

    Duties:

    • Function as a Lead Civil Engineer within Public Works practices.
    • Prepare preliminary engineering reports.
    • Research jurisdictional requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings.
    • Prepare proposals/contracts and project work plans and schedules.
    • Prepare design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and information obtained from research activities.
    • Coordinate client management and marketing efforts for future work.
    • Prepare GIS exhibits.
    • Conduct site visits and document findings.
    • Work directly with clients and direct staff with varied levels of experience and expertise.
    • Attend, record, and distribute meeting minutes and assist with general project correspondence.
    • Prepare graphic materials for presentations or documents.
    • Manage staff in hydrology, hydraulic, flood analysis, stormwater treatment, and client management duties.
    • Initiate and lead kickoff calls or high-level design calls with clients and prepare monthly forecasting and client cost estimates when appropriate.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and follow comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensure proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
    • Review project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Lead successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client).
    • Contribute to successful delivery and performance of projects.
    • Cultivate relationships with clients and maintain strong relationships with them.
    • Understand, follow, and enforce Huitt-Zollars' business process including weekly rhythm.
    • Take active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goals. Assist and/or lead the team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ, and Proposals). Develop and/or execute project Win strategy.
    • Understand and follow HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensure quality control measures are adhered to on projects and daily operations.
    • Actively engage and participate in the training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff.
    • Understand duties and responsibilities, possess necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintain current job knowledge.

    Qualifications:

    • BS Degree in Civil Engineering.
    • Must be a licensed PE in Colorado with a minimum of 8+ years of experience.
    • Experience with producing accurate and complete construction plans and reports.
    • Ability to work independently in a team environment and manage multiple projects with limited supervision.
    • Must be able to work directly with clients and direct staff with varied levels of experience and expertise.
    • Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely.
    • Ability to train staff and review work for quality assurance.
    • Solid leadership and management skills, self-motivated, and possess a strong ability to meet deadlines, satisfy clients, and solve complex problems.
    • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D.
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
    • Willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities when presented.
    • Consistently deliver proactive communication with clients. When client issues arise, address or expeditiously escalate to discipline lead.
    • Develop relationships with clients that allow for ease in communications and problem-solving.
    • Troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions, effectively implement and document for internal and external stakeholders.
