- Prepare the Electrophysiology suite and equipment for procedures.
- Verify patient identification, medical history, and procedure details.
- Assist in positioning patients comfortably and securely on the procedure table.
- Provide patient education regarding the procedure and address any concerns.
- Ability to maintain radiation safety and infection control protocols.
- Operate fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and other imaging equipment to visualize internal structures during procedures.
- Adjust imaging parameters to optimize image quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
- Ensure the functionality and cleanliness of equipment before and after each procedure.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and escalate issues as necessary.
- Assist radiologists and physicians in performing interventional procedures by scrubbing procedures and performing post imaging manipulation of images.
- Hand off sterile equipment and supplies to the procedural team as needed.
- Assist with monitoring patient vital signs and comfort level throughout the procedure.
- Utilizes sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and assists physicians with procedures per protocol.
- Insertion and removal of venous and arterial access devices
- Manually injects contrast agent.
- Monitors and manages cardiovascular hemodynamics.
- Operates ancillary equipment adherent to specific procedures.
- Operates the cardiac stimulator proficiently and independently for ablation procedures.
- Circulates within procedure room and procures equipment required for any given procedure.
- Transfer patients safely to recovery areas and provide post-procedure care as directed.
- Monitor patients for any signs of complications and report findings to the healthcare team.
- Document procedure details, patient responses, and any adverse events accurately in medical records.
- Communicate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and patient safety.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patient cases and treatment plans.
- Establishes effective working relationships and utilizes a team approach to process improvement.
- Learns new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
- Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement.
- Utilizes Material Safety Data Sheets within service.
- Adheres to established hospital policy and procedures related to job function.

POSITION TITLE:
Electrophysiology Radiology Technologist
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the EP Cardiologist, the Electrophysiology Radiology Technologist provides technical support and assistance to the physician during Electrophysiology procedures.
The EP RT performs surgical scrub duties, hemodynamic monitoring, stimming, and circulating with all Electrophysiology procedures using clinical knowledge, technical skills, and professional judgement in accordance with professional and departmental standards and protocols.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
Associate degree or certificate in Radiologic Technology.
Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) or Radiology Technician (RTT) required.
Additional certification in Interventional or Cardiac Radiology (CIIP) preferred.
New York State Department of Health License with intravascular contrast injection 89.4 (can add injection license upon hire).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. ACLS provided upon hiring.
Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education.
