Position Summary
The Chief Engineer will partner with the Property Manager in the planning, coordination, and
management of all mechanical operations, maintenance, energy management programs, and employee
development programs to meet quality standards and ownership operating objectives for a commercial
facility.
Position Responsibilities
• Assisting the Property Manager in accomplishing tasks and duties in the performance and
responsibilities required by the contract and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining
agreement.
• Perform the work of all trades required by the contract, as directed by the Property
Manager.
• Supervise, plans, schedules, and assigns work activities of personnel engaged in the maintenance
and repair of electrical, mechanical, structural, and nonstructural systems of the facility.
• Inspects completed work for conformance of standards.
• Perform duties as assigned by the Property Manager.
• Oversee and perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on found
conditions impacting satisfactory operations.
• Work with your team to respond effectively to all emergencies. On Call 24/ 7.
• Prepare and submit Management Summary Reports listing conditions found in the performance of
assigned work, and recommend and/or suggest actions to be taken.
• Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas.
Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
• Maintain compliance to District, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws.
Experience & Education
Must have five year's experience in the last ten years of facilities operations and maintenance
with at least 5 (5) of those years supervising technicians in the maintenance of similar systems.
Must have a minimum of three years operating experience with a DDC system (documentation of this
required).
• HVAC Certification Required.
• 3rd Class Engineers license issued by the District of Columbia required.
• LEED Certification a plus.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Washington, DC driver's license.
• Must have the ability to respond to after hour calls or emails.
• Proven verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be proficient in Excel and Word.
• Ability to establish strong interpersonal relationships with team members, tenants, contractors
and vendors.
• Must be self-directed, pro-active.
• Must be reliable.
• Strong organization skills, ability to prioritize work and attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to change within the organization and the needs of the client.
• Must have an understanding and experience of mechanical, electrical, utility systems,
maintenance and repair, cleaning functions
