Overview
Portal Innovations seeks a dynamic Director of Platform and Ecosystem to join our team. This pivotal role requires a keen understanding of the life sciences ecosystem, with a particular focus on the Boston area and a drive to work with all Portal locations for ultimate national positioning. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of the Boston biotech and innovation ecosystem, excellent project management skills, high adaptability in an evolving and complex matrix structure, and the ability to maneuver in a startup environment with evolving role expectations. Your mission will be to partner with cross-functional teams to elevate the Portal brand within the Boston innovation ecosystem, leveraging your strategic insight, marketing acumen and high program execution skills to foster growth.
Responsibilities
Serve as a key partner to the Boston Executive Director, aiding in the development and execution of strategies to elevate Portal Boston's brand on local and national levels as well as visibility and brand reputation.
Set and execute program and marketing strategies, engaging proactively with key organizations as determined in strategic sessions.
Monitor the ecosystem landscape such as community events, contribute to our member newsletter and communications, support the marketing of events. Engage with Lab Operations and Member Operations teams, demonstrating flexibility to support, drive, and execute internal and external programming.
Lead strategic programming of events, member journey mapping, and ensure consistent alignment with Portal's brand, mission and values.
Deeply understand the Boston innovation ecosystem to offer differentiated marketing strategies and tactics, particularly for our Southline location.
Coordinate strategic programming for our Boston location and also work with our other locations to deliver on our mission to support Life Sciences entrepreneurs nationwide and strengthen Portal's national value proposition and support national programming efforts.
Interface closely with Business Development, Lab Operations, and Member Operations teams to ensure seamless program execution and foster ecosystem partnerships.
Qualification & Experience
Proven relevant professional experience, with a preference for those who have startup, programming experience and/or knowledge of the VC and early science development landscape.
Bachelors degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Communications, Marketing or a related scientific business, or engineering discipline. A MS, MBA, or significant experience in business or leadership/management preferred but not required
Proven project management expertise, preferably with 5+ years leading cross-functional and complex projects, including managing larger programs.
Strong scientific and business understanding, coupled with excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
Demonstrated ability to navigate internal dynamics, work within a matrix organization, and effectively manage multiple projects in a rapidly evolving environment.
Experience in facilitating workshops, creating high-fidelity presentations for client delivery, and generating innovative solutions to complex problems.
