- Knowledge of best practice treatments for mental health, substance use, intellectual and developmental disability, and co-occurring disorders.
- Thorough knowledge of DSM-V etiology, symptoms, treatment, and prognoses.
- Knowledge of and ability to administer various treatments and therapeutic modalities as appropriate and/or prescribed.
- Basic knowledge of agency, local, state, and federal regulations; Medicaid guidelines; standards for clinical services; and related human rights, ethical, and legal concerns.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Basic working knowledge of pertinent medical, legal, and financial terminology; and psychopharmacology.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team; think critically and problem solve effectively; and recognize and respond to crises appropriately.
- Must possess a valid driver's license (state of Virginia, unless otherwise approved by agency) with an acceptable driving record. Must maintain acceptable record throughout employment.
- Must have an acceptable criminal history background and child protective services check upon hire and maintained throughout employment;
- Must have acceptable drug screen results upon hire.
- A Master's Degree in social work, psychology, counseling or other license-eligible human services field required.
- Required to register and become licensed-eligible within 3 months of hire, with the Virginia Board of Counseling.
- Knowledge of DBT and prior training is preferred.
