- Must reside in the state of California for the duration of the internship
- Participate in impactful projects during their 10-week program
- 10-week curriculum designed to familiarize interns with BSC, leadership development, exposure to the health care industry, and more
- Are invited to participate in BSC employee events such as Employee Resource Groups, Employee volunteer activities, and more.
- Journal Entries: Prepare journal entries and adjustments to record financial transactions.
- Reconciliations: Participate in maintaining and reconciling the general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Audit Support: Compile documentation to support internal and external audits.
- Financial Reporting: Draft financial statements for submission to regulatory authorities.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze and explain fluctuations in the financial statements.
- Process Improvement: Participate in special projects and assignments to strengthen controls and transform
- Must reside in the state of California for the duration of the internship, with ability to be productive while working remotely
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with an emphasis in accounting, finance, economics, and/or healthcare highly desirable
- Strong accounting knowledge with an understanding of financial statements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Eager to learn and disciplined in time management
- Understanding of healthcare ecosystem; health plan and payer economics
- Experience with Hyperion Essbase

The Corporate Accounting team is responsible for the financial accounting and reporting for Blue Shield of California and its subsidiaries. Our dynamic team is looking for a motivated Accounting intern to join us at this mission-driven organization to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced healthcare insurance industry.
