    NATURE AND SCOPE:

    Under the direction of IT Services Directors, the Tech Support Intern provides entry-level operational and technical support to the IT Services department, assisting with activities required for successful execution of projects or processes.

    RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

    Strategy & Planning:

    • Collaborate with all IT teams to ensure smooth, reliable, and secure operation of software and systems.
    • Understand the deployed infrastructure and systems within the scope of assigned tasks.
    Acquisition & Deployment:
    • Participate in projects to acquire, install, maintain / upgrade and repair the environment.
    • Monitor and report progress and accomplish desired results within specified timeframes.
    • Provision end-user devices (e.g., workstations, phones, printers) for deployment to staff.
    • Deploy operating system and pre-packaged software using manual or automated deployment tools.
    • Ensure the appropriateness, technical validity and performance of all work being placed into production.
    Service Delivery & Operational Management:
    • Build rapport with and engage other IT Services team members.
    • Escalate incidents with accurate documentation and stay engaged to ensure timely resolution.
    • Promptly inform management of any critical issues, especially inappropriate computer hardware or software use, so systems are not abused, and the organization's integrity is not compromised.
    • Maintain IT asset inventory and storeroom.
    • Accurately document instances of equipment installation, failure, repair and removal, as well as moves and changes.
    • Record and manage equipment sent to repair depots for equipment under warranty or service contracts.
    • Maintain system documentation and develop help sheets and FAQs.
    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Currently enrolled working towards a technical degree
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office personal computer environment
    • Knowledge about the YMCA Movement a plus
    • Thirst for knowledge, intellectual curiosity
    • Logical and efficient
    • Keen attention to detail
    • Self-motivated and directed, and works independently with normal supervision
    • Ability to effectively execute tasks
    • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
    • Strong customer-service / user-experience orientation

    Physical requirements include frequent standing, sitting, walking, lifting 20-50 lbs., reaching and manual dexterity skills to operate computer. Occasionally may stoop/squat, crawl/crouch, pull/push, twist trunk/neck climb, and grasp or squeeze with right and left hard in completing required tasks of position.
