Job Opportunity – Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse – Virginia

Start Date: March 16, 2026
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-week assignment. Every other weekend and every other holiday required. Cross-training to Mother/Baby expected.

Highlights:

• High-volume unit with approximately 2,000 annual deliveries in a modern facility with 8 private labor rooms and 2 OB operating rooms
• Exposure to both low-risk certified nurse midwife population and high-risk maternal fetal medicine cases
• Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Patient ratios of 1-2 patients per nurse across all shifts
• Float opportunities to Mother/Baby and NICU feeder/grower units for expanded skill development
• Up to 40 hours of approved time off available during the contract period

Requirements:

• Active Virginia RN license (pending licenses accepted; must be in hand the Wednesday before start date)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and ACLS
• Fetal monitoring certification required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Proficiency in high-risk antepartum care, triage of obstetrical patients, magnesium sulfate therapy, postpartum hemorrhage management, and neonatal resuscitation
• Ability to circulate and recover cesarean sections
• Competency in drawing venous blood, starting and maintaining IVs, and recognizing abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Nursys verification required for submittal; BSN preferred
• Flu vaccination required with no exemptions; COVID-19 vaccination not required
