Overview/ Job Responsibilities Sev1Tech is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the enterprise architecture, design, development and deployment of network services in support of Dept
of Homeland Security (DHS) networks
The position supports a variety of network technologies such as Cisco routing/switching, Cisco VPN, F5 GTM/LTM load-balancing, Palo Alto firewalls, Broadcom (BlueCoat) Proxies and others
The Senior Network Engineer will be able to support enterprise solution designs and implementations, core network technology refresh projects, O&M, Cloud integration and migration projects, incident ticket troubleshooting and providing inputs for DHS network modernization architecture and design efforts

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Research and implement enterprise-wide network solutions, capabilities, and enhancements to support customer business/mission goals and objectives, while complying with the DHS's network architecture and design standards
• Produce SDLC project artifacts (DHS 4300) such as requirements, design documents, diagrams and other required documentation
• Troubleshoot network incidents, providing root cause analysis and documenting information in tickets and knowledge repositories
• Coordinate system maintenance, monitoring, and installation of multiple WAN/LAN environments encompassing multiple specializations, platforms, and technologies
• Troubleshoot and resolve network media and components
• Develop and maintain a roadmap for capabilities, operations, and technologies
• Assist with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation of all network configuration upgrades, additions or revisions for customer approval before implementation
• Support network traffic analysis and bandwidth optimization efforts to ensure attainment of performance and availability objectives
• Evaluate and report on new/emerging network/communication technologies to enhance capacity, performance, and reliability of the network
• Evaluate and recommend changes and/or technology upgrades to address performance, standardization, and industry best practices
• Follows all Customer network security processes and procedures, ensures compliance with all Government policies
• Represent customer requirements in technical exchanges with other government agencies
• Perform site to new installations and technology refresh
• Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams
• Contribute to documentation in the Knowledge Base, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), work instructions, and job aids.
• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with operations and engineering teams on new solutions, systems, applications, and tools
• Perform additional duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related degree (relevant field); relevant experience may be a substitute for education.
• Six (6 plus) years of federal IT contracting experience on network and infrastructure programs
• Four (4) to six (6 plus) years hands-on experience with Cisco routing, switching and firewall technology (e.g., ISR, ASR, CSR, ASA, Nexus, TACACS/ISE)
• Four (4) to six (6 plus) years working in a WAN environment, strong experience in incident and operations management
• Strong knowledge of routing/switching, firewalls, load balancers and proxy servers
• High level architectural and operational experience with complex networks.
• Very strong knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) and network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, GRE, IPSEC, and VRF)
• Strong knowledge of IT security related to networks and applications with solutions to mitigate those issues
• Must be able to work evening change request windows and provide on-call support after normal business hours as required
• Must have experience creating/writing design documentation, diagrams and other project artifact deliverables
• Must be extremely resourceful in learning a very complex and dynamically changing network
• Must be able to work independently in fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong knowledge of Cisco technologies

Certification Requirement:
CCNA certification


Clearance Requirement:
Public Trust clearance or higher; Public Trust clearance with Dept of Homeland Security (DHS) or Customs & Border Protection Desired Qualifications

Certifications Desired:
CCNP, CCIE, Palo Alto, F5

Software/Hardware Desired:
Palo Alto firewalls, F5 Load Balancers, BlueCoat/Symantec Proxies, SDN/SD-WAN, Cloud (AWS, Azure, O365), SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, Unix/Linux, Python, Perl, NetScout
