    Job Description:


    The Department of Pathobiological Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine (Vet Med) at Louisiana State University and A&M College (LSU) invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant level.

    This position involves research 75% and teaching 25%. The candidate is expected to establish an extramurally funded research program in the general area of viral oncology. Candidates may participate and receive additional funding from the Center for Pre-Clinical Cancer Research ) headquartered at Vet Med.


    Job Responsibilities:
    75% - Research: Performs research in viral oncology.

    Develops and maintains a competitive laboratory funded by federal and other sources and publishes research results in highly reputable journals.


    25% - Teaching: Teaches in the veterinary professional curriculum and the departmental graduate program and participates in other educational activities of the department.

    5% - Service: Serves on departmental committees and other departmental duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications:
    DVM, Ph.
    D., or equivalent with 3 years of postdoctoral experience. A record of participation in funded research and high impact peer-reviewed publications. Experience in viral oncology, cancer research, or immunology.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    Ph.
    D. in Biomedical Sciences with record of significant participation in research activities as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are essential for the position. Clearly defined research plans in infectious diseases, immunology and/or immunology and cancer.


    Special and Physical Qualifications:


    Safety and Security Sensitive Job - Safety and security-sensitive positions are defined as those positions where any form of substance abuse may affect University activities through unsafe work behavior/performance or error in judgment; or where substance abuse could jeopardize the safety and well-being of employees, other personnel, or the general public, or cause significant damage to University property.

    This includes positions requiring firearms, access to controlled substances, handling hazardous material, operating heavy equipment or machinery, etc. These positions are subject to drug screens per PS-67/FASOP HR-04.


    Essential Personnel - This position may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.


    FERPA - As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services.

    Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center.

    In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency.

    The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.


    Required to be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching above the shoulder, reaching below the shoulder, vision near sight, vision far sight, climbing, crawling, twisting, pushing/pulling, grasping, and squatting.
