    About Us:

    The purpose of the Ohio Latino Affairs Commission is to advise state government on issues affecting Hispanic Ohioans, to connect the diverse Latino communities across the state, and to build the capacity of community organizations so they may better serve the fast growing population of Ohio.

    What You'll Do:

    The Part- Time Administrative Professional 1 plays an important part at the Ohio Latino Affairs Commission. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing secretarial assistance through routine administrative tasks including answering telephone, taking messages, composing and typing routine correspondence, opening, sorting and distributing mail, finalizing and preparing correspondence for mailing, making and maintaining photocopies for correspondence files.
  • Maintaining personnel files.
  • Distributing and collecting needed documents and forms from commission members and staff.
  • Arranging hotel accommodations for board members and/or commission staff.
  • Providing support for special events.
  • Providing bilingual assistance in person or by telephone (, written translations, interpreting English to Spanish or Spanish to English).
  • Coordinating daily workflow of office.
  • Coordinating bills for payment and tracking expenditures.
  • Establishing and maintaining computer- based spreadsheets to provide up-to-date account information, preparing travel expenditure reports.
  • Keeping inventory of office supplies and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Making reservations or arrangements for meeting rooms.
  • Organizing meeting materials.
  • Producing commission meeting minutes.
  • Sending out invites and announcements/notices.
  • Organizing, preparing, and distributing commission meeting materials and travel expenses.
  • Organizing and scheduling meeting with legislatures, state agencies and other entities.
  • Revising content of manuals and notebooks.
  • Entering payable hours for Commissioners.

  • Qualifications
  • 1 year training or 1 year experience in secretarial science or business office applications.

  • For positions requiring technical terminology, applicants must also have 6 months training or 6 months experience in relevant technical terminology.

  • Unless required by legislation or union contract, salary will be set at the lowest rate of the salary range with gradual increases in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code or OCSEA/AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement.
