    Job Summary

    The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the operations of the School of Health Sciences Programs laboratories. The position handles student/public inquiries and advanced clerical and administrative management of the lab area. The position assists in maintaining inventory of equipment and provides assistance to students and faculty.

    Duties & Responsibilities


    • Initiates the purchases of resources necessary to meet program needs
    • Ensures the maintenance and repair of equipment
    • Provides faculty / student support and handles inquiries accordingly
    • Coordinates equipment repairs as needed
    • Assures adherence to OSHA requirements
    • Schedules and prepares laboratories in collaboration with program faculty and other program personnel
    • Assists the faculty with managing laboratory area
    • Interfaces with sales representatives, suppliers and repair technicians
    • Maintains budget reports for supplies under the supervision of the Chairperson and assures receipt of ordered supplies and equipment
    • Schedules tours of clinic and laboratory, upon request
    • Provides guidance to student assistants and others assigned to the lab area
    • Participates in recruitment efforts, health fairs, and other program activities
    • Provides technical assistance and regular updates regarding lab services, resources and other issues as needed
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    Minimum Requirements


    • Bachelor's degree from regionally accredited institution in a Health related field and three (3) years of related work experience in a medical or healthcare setting
    • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
    • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
    • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with constituents, departments, community based organizations in a diverse community
    • Possess superior organizational skills and the ability to guard confidential information
    • Ability to use instructional technology
    • Proven experience in a fast-paced office environment with responsibilities in handling multiple projects
    • Knowledge of Microsoft office software and specific computer programs related to area of responsibility
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
    • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with faculty, students, and staff
