    In this role you will provide technical direction to one or more teams responsible for protecting OCI and its customers from distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. You will define the technical direction, architecture, work on hard technical problems in distributed systems, scale, security and innovate rapidly with your team to deliver world class services.

    We're looking for a Senior Principal Software engineer with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, networking, security and highly available services. You should be comfortable with internet protocols, virtual networking and in developing cloud scale security services. You will be able to architect broad systems interactions, while being hands-on, and be able to dive deep into any part of the stack and higher-level system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

You have superb technical, research and analytical capabilities and a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively to delight our customers. You will define the technical vision, collaborate with executives for investment and drive the software design and development of the next generation of OCI DDoS amd Web Application Firewall services. You focus on simplicity of architecture to design systems that enable rapid innovation with ease of maintenance and evolution.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering, architecture, or development/operational experience.
  • Experience operating cloud services or large distributed applications in production.
  • Strong experience in high level languages Java, C#, C++, Python
  • Deep knowledge of distributed system design
  • Experience building and operating cloud services
  • Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable with complex, swiftly evolving software development environments.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and drive, follow, evangelize, and improve cross-team processes. .
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
  • Significant work experience in startups or fast-paced enterprise technology development environments.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building or operating security software or security software services such as DDoS protection, Web Application firewall or anomaly detection.
  • Experience with machine learning (ML) and building cloud services that use ML based inference at run-time is a plus.
  • Experience with Cloud Platforms such as OCI, AWS, Azure or GCP is a plus.

    US: Hiring Range: from $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

    8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
