    Director of Operations/El Paso - Juarez

    Job Purpose:


    Responsible for leading and managing the performance and P&L of two plants, one in El Paso, TX and one in Juarez, MEX, associated with the After-Market Services Division.

    Associated duties include supporting operations strategy, providing leadership and direction for the site and building a strong team.

    This position will be responsible for introducing significant engineering expertise and lean practices, securing new business and Customer pricing, providing quality services timely and at a competitive cost while keeping in budget, driving continuous improvement and the implementation of new methods and technologies, developing organizational strength, and maintaining compliance to quality standards and company and governmental regulations.


    Nature of Duties:
    General

    • Responsible for overall plant performance and growth, including P&L responsibilities, programs execution, and operations management.
    • Direct the development, implementation, and execution of activities for assembly, integration, direct order fulfillment, repair, returns management and other services operations to meet both customer and internal production, performance, quality, and financial objectives.
    • Ensure Customer deliverables are met, good communication is maintained and overall Customer satisfaction is achieved. Actively pursue Customer delight.
    Financial

    • Manage multi-client, multi-program P&L's at two sites.
    • Responsible, jointly with Sales and Account Management, for managing costs and Customer pricing, pricing cadences and thus maintaining a healthy Customer P&L.
    • Develop annual business plans, revenue forecasts, and budgets.
    Productivity / Efficiency

    • Responsible for all aspects of site and management of programs including: facilities maintenance, engineering, supply chain and materials management, quality, warehousing and production operations.
    • Lead cost and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve best in class productivity targets in both labor, space and material consumption efficiency.
    • Collaborate with other Sanmina divisions, plants, corporate functions, etc., to develop and execute synergistic solutions.
    • Drive operational excellence through world-class manufacturing processes, consequential engineering development, extensive application of lean and best practices. drawing from other Sanmina and external sources.
    • Maximize the efficiency between El Paso (a border crossing logistics hub, direct order fulfillment and late customization and integration center) and Juarez (a services and integration site).
    Growth

    • Define and develop strategic capabilities at both sites; continuously improve the site's services offerings to the Customer and engage the greater SGS organization, to grow current accounts and attract new ones.
    Administrative / Personnel management

    • Manage departmental personnel including setting performance objectives, performance appraisals and resolving staffing issues.
    • Monitor, train and adjust resources to meet production throughput and efficiency targets.
    • Prioritize opportunities (workload) of site management / supervisory staff.
    • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel and establishes succession plans to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
    Culture

    • Provide strong leadership to drive Sanmina's culture and improve operational excellence including quality, delivery, service.
    • Promote and drive a culture of proactive, service focused management

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree with strong preference toward Engineering, Masters degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years directly related experience in Manufacturing and related After-Market Services industry and Engineering roles, with at least 5 years of demonstrated experience at a senior leadership role with P&L responsibility.
    • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    • Bilingual (Spanish and English).
    • Excellent presentation and influencing skills.
    • Ability to build effective partnerships with internal and external customers.
    • Strong ability to plan at both strategic and operational levels.
    • Experience in manufacturing philosophies, operations, processes, supply chain and related technologies.
    • Demonstrated competence in lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement systems (e.g., Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing).
    • Proven ability to solve complex problems and lead teams to solve complex problems.
    • Excellent understanding and the ability to manage capital and expense budgets.
    • Personal computer skills, with proficiency in spreadsheet, presentations, and word processing, preferably in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
