    This Opportunity

    WSP is seeking a Lead Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) and Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Project Manager for our Civil, Ground Engineering & Materials projects in the Southeast. Primary location being Abingdon, VA. Other locations that will be considered are: Nashville, TN, Birmingham, AL, and Knoxville, TN . This individual will support industrial, municipal and development clientele on waste management, civil, water resources, and environmental engineering projects. The position relies heavily on a combination of leadership and technical experience and capabilities as you lead teams to successfully execute work. As a CQA/CMT Project Manager, you will set the bar of excellence in monitoring, testing, and reporting project construction delivering a quality project on time and within budget. WSP has a comprehensive training and certification program for Project Managers, as well as mentoring and cross collaboration opportunities. This position will blend your project management time with technical work.

    Your Impact

    • Understanding corporate/office health and safety expectations and leading project safety by example
    • Administering CQA and CMT projects consistent with CQA plans, technical specifications, drawings, WSP/client contract documents, and WSP quality program requirements
    • Coordinating and managing on-site CQA personnel, reviewing field reports, and reviewing test results
    • Serving as the main WSP point of contact with the Client team and contractor participating in regular project meetings
    • Leading WSP CQA engineering staff in preparing construction certification reports meeting project technical requirements, schedule, and consistent with WSP quality program requirements
    • Managing project financial performance of contracted scope, change management, and invoicing
    • Motivating teams to work through design concerns, resolving external and internal conflicts
    • Engaging and mentoring WSP team members and being mentored by WSP leadership
    • Preparing proposals and change requests

    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications

    • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related degree
    • 7 to 10 years of related CQA / CMT experience
    • Ability to obtain professional engineering licensure
    • Experience with construction materials testing for earthworks, geosynthetics, and concrete
    • Experience with managing engineering technicians
    • Demonstrated leadership in a team atmosphere
    • Ability to promote corporate/office standards for safety and quality of work
    • Ability to recognize a project's critical path and continually plan for project success
    • Experience preparing work scopes and proposals
    • Understanding and delivering on key project safety, schedule, and financial performance indicators
    • Strong written/oral communication skills and the ability to plan for team success
