    Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineer or Principal
    Materials & Process (M&P) Engineer with
    composites experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in
    Melbourne, FL .

    The successful candidate will possess substantial experience with autoclave and out-of-autoclave cured composites and environmental criteria development to support corrosion protection in a harsh environment.


    Responsibilities include:

    • Performs root cause analysis of material failures, provides effective solutions to production composite issues
    • Generates test plans & reports
    • Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems
    • Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications
    • May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.
    • May travel to subcontractor locations

    This role may be filled at the Engineer (level 2) or Principal Engineer (level 3) based on the qualifications outlined below.


    Basic Qualifications:


    • Engineer :
    Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience; OR Master's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 0 years of related experience;


    • Principal: Bachelor of Science in a related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science in a related STEM discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of relevant experience; OR Ph.
    D. in related STEM discipline

    • Background in M&P
    • Experience with composite fabrication and design on aircraft
    • Experience with repair processes for composite materials used in aerospace structures
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) prior to the commencement of employment

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Degree in Materials Science Engineering or closely related discipline
    • Current, in-scope DoD Secret clearance (or higher)
    • Current Special Access Program clearance (PAR/SAP)
    • Experience with autoclave and out-of-autoclave cured composites

    Salary Range: $68,500 - $102,700


    Salary Range 2: $84,200 - $126,400

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

    In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
