- Provide compassionate care to all animals in the shelter.
- Counsel customers who are surrendering their pets to the shelter. Ensure accuracy of recorded information and process paperwork to admit animals to the shelter.
- Transcribes messages for the admissions call log. Assists with scheduling animal admissions to Lollypop Farm.
- Exercises patience and tact when working with the community.
- Provides overall animal maintenance—supplies animals with food and water, cleans cages, kennels and litter boxes.
- Maintains sanitary conditions for animals and work areas.
- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable state/ federal laws.
- Observes all safety rules and regulations for self and others.
- Performs other duties as requested.

Job DescriptionDescription:Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, has been helping animals and people since 1873. Together with our community, we better the lives of animals through justice, prevention, and life-saving care. Our organization cares for thousands of animals each year—saving animals from abuse and suffering, sending homeless pets to new homes, connecting pet owners with resources to keep their pets, and sharing information on how to help animals every day.
Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM each day.
Essential Job Duties:
Education & Experience: High School diploma or equivalent education. Minimum 1 year of animal experience and 1 year of customer service experience strongly preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered if aligned with the position.
Skills: Ability to interpret and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts. Must possess the ability to understand detailed and involved instructions and to apply common sense to carry out instructions, as well as the ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations. Strong animal handling skills preferred. Intermediate computer skills; ability to learn internal software. Ability to operate animal chip scanner, dishwasher, washer and dryer, and power washer, as well as use cleaning supplies.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position during shift, move throughout the building and move weight up to 50 pounds. Frequently required to communicate with others. Occasionally required to move excessive weight.
