    Job Title: Senior Director, Head of Biology

    Position Overview: The Vice President, Head of Biology will play a pivotal role in shaping the scientific direction and driving the success of their research programs focused on lipid biology and cholesterol biology. This key leadership position will be responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the biology department, including strategy development, project management, and scientific execution. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of lipid metabolism, cholesterol biology, and related therapeutic areas, along with a proven track record of translating scientific insights into innovative drug discovery and development programs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Scientific Leadership: Provide strategic direction and scientific leadership for the biology department, driving the development of novel therapeutic approaches in lipid biology and cholesterol metabolism.
    2. Team Management: Build and lead a high-performing team of scientists, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
    3. Research Strategy: Develop and implement research strategies to advance the company's pipeline of preventative care medicines, from target identification and validation through preclinical development.
    4. Project Oversight: Oversee the planning, execution, and interpretation of preclinical studies, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
    5. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with colleagues in other functional areas, including chemistry, pharmacology, and clinical development, to integrate biology insights into overall drug discovery and development efforts.
    6. External Partnerships: Cultivate strategic collaborations with academic institutions, CROs, and other external partners to leverage complementary expertise and resources.
    7. Scientific Communication: Represent the company externally through presentations at scientific conferences, publications in peer-reviewed journals, and interactions with key opinion leaders in the field.
    8. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory guidelines and standards in all research activities, contributing to the preparation of regulatory submissions as needed.

    Qualifications:

    1. Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology)
    2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech drug discovery, with a focus on lipid biology, cholesterol metabolism, or related areas
    3. Demonstrated track record of leadership and accomplishment in drug discovery, including successful progression of drug candidates from target identification through preclinical development
    4. Proven ability to build and lead multidisciplinary scientific teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment
    5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex scientific concepts to both internal and external stakeholders
    6. Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate and prioritize competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
    7. Experience in interacting with regulatory agencies and preparing regulatory submissions (desired)
