- Work Hours: 3 hours per day
- Position Type: School Year (193 days / 10 months)
- Working Hours: 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
- Implement a schedule of activities and events before and after school for school-age children.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of the facilities used in the Express program.
- Supervise all children enrolled in the Express program.
- Assist the Express site director in developing program and activities.
- Maintain necessary records.
- Implement appropriate and constructive discipline as set by the program coordinator.
- Carry out other assigned duties.
- Demonstrated ability to fulfill the listed responsibilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience and capability in working with elementary students.
- Previous experience in a school setting or similar youth program is preferred.
- Education in child development or a related field is desirable.
- Completion of 30 hours of Basic Training within 60 days of hire. Additional 10 hours of STARS training required each calendar year.
- Must uphold MERIT requirements (Managed Education and Registry Information Tool).
- Demonstrated interpersonal and basic communication skills.
- CPR certificate, first aid card, food handler's permit, proof of MMR Immunization, Immunity, or certified exemption for medical/religious reasons needed upon hire.
- Proven ability to work well with a diverse group of students, teachers, parents, and administrators while maintaining confidentiality.
- Positive interaction with youths and adults from various backgrounds.
- Physical capability to accompany students on field trips, bend and stoop when needed, chase/run after students, and lift 30 pounds.
- Willingness to assist students with personal hygiene in accidental or emergency situations.
