    Description

    Summary



    The incumbent will practice as a registered nurse in either the Step-Down Unit or Intensive Care.

    Duties



    A Step-Down Unit Registered Nurse is responsible but not limited to the following major responsibilities:

    • Chest tube procedures/care
    • Moderate Sedation
    • Central/PICC Line care and dressing changes
    • Titration of selected vasoactive drugs such as nitroglycerin
    • Cardioversion
    • TEE procedure
    • Stroke protocol
    • Epidural catheter insertion, management and removal
    • Assess, monitor and manage patients requiring renal therapeutic intervention; e.g. hemodialysis, stents and urostomies
    • Recognition of signs and symptoms of cardiopulmonary emergencies
    • Initiate standard interventions to stabilize a patient awaiting transfer to ICU/SDU
    • Cardiac catheterization
    • Manage patients with complex wounds with fistulas, drains, and vacuumassisted closure devices
    • TPN
    • RME
    • Blood Transfusions
    • Pacemaker Permanent/Transvenous
    • Administering medications for procedural sedation and monitoring a patient during the procedure
    • Charge Nurse Duties
