    Summary:

    We are looking for driven and knowledgeable Pega Developers to join us on our journey.

    Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, headquartered in Rochester, NY, is part of a $6.6 billion family of companies that finances and delivers health care services across upstate New York and long- term care insurance nationwide.

    Collectively, the enterprise provides health insurance to nearly 1.5 million members and employs about 5, 500 New Yorkers.

    The Pega Developer is responsible for utilizing agile development methodologies to analyze, develop, and test system solutions in response to business requirements.

    Incumbents are expected to understand user stories, identify appropriate designs, code to the design specifications, and complete appropriate unit testing to ensure a quality solution delivery.

    Working with stakeholders across a broad array of IT and business teams through all phases of a project, including requirements-definition, design and build, delivery, and user acceptance testing, the Pega Developer leverages industry expertise to consult on and influence project direction, as a tireless advocate for Pega best practices.

    The incumbent demonstrates commitment to project success by ensuring that the delivered product is fully-functioning, performs to business requirements defined and approved by the team, and meets or exceeds stakeholder expectations.


    Essential Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

    Level I (Developer):
    Develops code; analyzes, researches, and resolves system issues.

    Responsible for small user stories encompassing limited feature development and service requests - with impacts largely limited to a single application or system.

    Articulates obstacles.
    Creates and maintains application documentation.
    Participates in design reviews and code reviews.
    Maintains level of urgency towards timelines and results.
    Participates in on-call rotation.
    Supports and follows all documented IT processes and standards.
    Attends daily standups.
    Communicates and works with team members/Business to understand requirements and identify application impacts.
    Creates individual work plans, specifications and programs with guidance utilizing development procedures and standards.

    Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and leading to the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.

    Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.
    Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
    Performs other functions as assigned by management.

    Level II (Pega System Architect) - in addition to Level I responsibilities:

    Develops code; analyzes, researches, and resolves system issues.

    Responsible for small-to-medium user stories encompassing feature development and service requests - with some impacts to more than one application or system.

    Participates in strategic discussion and decision-making when called upon to do so.
    Provides limited mentorship to Associate Developers.
    Provides input to creation of Organizational Standards.

    Level III (Pega Senior System Architect) - in addition to Level I and II responsibilities:

    Develops code; analyzes, researches, and resolves system issues.

    Responsible for medium-to-complex user stories encompassing complex feature development and service requests - with broad impacts to more than one application or system.

    Identifies process and technical deficiencies and offers solutions to resolve.
    Provides mentorship to Associate and Mid-Level Developers; provides limited mentorship to other Senior Developers on Pega-related areas of expertise.
    Identifies best practices and participates in creation of Organizational Standards.

    Level IV (Pega Lead System Architect) (in addition to Level I-III essential responsibilities/accountabilities):

    Develops code; analyzes, researches, and resolves system issues.
    Responsible for complex user stories encompassing complex feature development with broad impacts to a portfolio of applications and/or systems.
    Assists with software and system design and architecture within the assigned portfolio.
    Identifies process and technical deficiencies and offers solutions to resolve.
    Develops strategies to mitigate risk and translates those strategies into specific action plans.
    Provides mentorship to all technical staff at all levels on Pega-related topics.
    Identifies best practices and drives creation of Organizational Standards.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    NOTE:

    Level I (Developer):


    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant field (or four additional years of work experience in lieu of bachelor's).

    Related work experience (e.g. co-ops and/or internships) preferred.
    Willingness to learn the Pega platform for developing healthcare-related applications and databases.
    Experience with data modeling and a strong database background.

    Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and partner with team members and direct leadership to understand user stories and identify application and system impacts.

    Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills.
    Knowledge and familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
    Knowledge and familiarity with testing techniques (e.g. unit and system).

    Level II (Pega System Architect) (in addition to Level I minimum qualifications:
    1 to 4 years of Pega development experience preferred.

    Demonstrated ability to apply Pega's principles of application design and development using Developer Studio to delivery business applications that are Built for Change.

    Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and partner with team members, direct leadership, and some business partners to understand user stories and identify application and system impacts.

    Experience configuring case and case processing behavior.
    Experience creating data classes and properties.
    Demonstrated ability to automate decision-making throughout an application to improve process efficiency.
    Demonstrated ability to incorporate and manage reference data to allow applications to adapt to changing business conditions.
    Pega Certified System Architect training and/or certification.
    Demonstrated ability to perform the Responsibilities and Accountabilities of this role level.

    Level III (Pega Senior System Architect) (in addition to Level II minimum qualifications):
    4 to 8 years of Pega development experience preferred.

    Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and partner with team members, all levels of IT leadership, and all levels of business stakeholder to understand user stories and identify application and system impacts.

    Demonstrated ability to create and execute appropriate test cases.

    Demonstrated experience managing rules, rulesets, and leveraging the Enterprise Class Structure (ECS) to promote rule reuse between case types and applications.

    Demonstrated ability to design applications for multiple device types and screen sizes.
    Demonstrated ability to manage integration settings.
    Demonstrated ability to incorporate Next-Best-Action decision-making into applications.
    Demonstrated experience configuring roles, access groups, privileges, and managing data access within an application.
    Pega Senior System Architect training and/or certification.
    Demonstrated ability to perform the Responsibilities and Accountabilities of this role level.

    Level IV (Pega Lead System Architect) (in addition to Level III minimum qualifications):
    8 or more years of Pega development experience preferred.

    Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and partner with team members, all levels of IT leadership, and all levels of business stakeholder to understand user stories and identify enterprise-wide application and system impacts.

    Demonstrated subject matter expertise in two or more technologies leveraged by the organization.
    Demonstrated experience setting up the Pega platform from the ground up.
    Demonstrated ability to leverage AI and robotics automation within Pega applications to meet business needs.
    Demonstrated experience leveraging and promoting reusable components.
    Demonstrated ability to optimize usability, security, and performance in Pega applications.
    Demonstrated expertise with extending Pega OOTB reporting to meet the needs of the enterprise.

    Demonstrated ability to act as a strategic advisor on topics such as the development of release pipelines, the assessment and measurement of quality, the practice of load testing, and the estimation of cloud resources needed for applications.

    Pega Lead System Architect training and/or certification.
    Demonstrated ability to perform the Responsibilities and Accountabilities of this role level.

    Compensation Range(s):

    Grade 209:
    Minimum: $75, 816 Maximum: $140, 254
