Job Description:

As a Maintenance Supervisor, you play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operation of all mobile equipment. Your responsibilities include prioritizing work assignments, assessing repairs, and supervising maintenance personnel. You'll challenge conventional thinking to find efficient solutions and utilize best practices to enhance organizational performance. The Maintenance Supervisor (MS) reports to the Maintenance Manager, Recycling Operations General Manager, Recycling Operations Regional General Manager, or the Asset Manager/Sr. Asset Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety and Environmental Compliance:

• Create a safe environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
• Prioritize and schedule work activities based on equipment quantity and personnel skills.
• Develop, monitor, and evaluate maintenance policies and procedures.

Operational Efficiency:

• Coordinate with other supervisors and managers to achieve organizational goals.
• Manage direct reports to optimize performance.
• Monitor department spending and adjust contracts as needed.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Continuously monitor contracts, leases, and expenses related to maintenance operations.
• Ensure expenses align with approved budgets.
• Stay informed about external influences (e.g., DOT and OSHA legislation).

Administrative Management:

• Maintain staffing levels effectively.
• Review performance of direct reports.
• Collaborate with HR to prepare job descriptions.

Special Projects:

• Undertake special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Proven track record in maintenance or related field.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with maintenance policies and procedures.
• Leadership Skills: Ability to manage and supervise teams.
• Analytical Abilities: Utilize metrics and best practices for improvement.
• Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Minimum 5-7 years' experience, or equivalent, in a related industrial environment
• Knowledge of fabrication, tools, maintenance of heavy equipment/parts, and repair; computer competent; attention to detail and accuracy; excellent math, organizational, and management skills; tact and ability to communicate on a professional level to employees of all levels from staff to senior management, both orally and in writing.
