Description
The Sr Electrical Engineer/Tech Specialist is considered an expert in the design, development and commercialization of electronics across multiple industries and responsible for the development of electronic hardware designs using ECAD tool for the development of schematics, PCBA documentation supporting products development.
The person provides technical leadership to the department and often is called upon to resolve complex design and system issues.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Formulate and defines system scope and objectives to develop software, electronics hardware and firmware for complex systems.
Analyzes circuit performance, circuit simulation expertise, Worst Case Circuit analysis expertise put into practice
Utilize schematic capture tools and computer simulation to create designs for complex systems. Use electronic test equipment such as emulators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.
Vendor resources to incorporate the latest technology in new designs.
Prepares feasibility analysis, cost estimates and detailed specifications from which electronic and software designs may be executed.
Responsible for adhering to and augmenting when appropriate company development and quality standards.
Code, test, debug and maintain embedded software and embedded support software.
Analyze, test, debug and maintain electronics hardware.
Works at the highest technical level on complex applications.
May lead small teams in the execution of design activities. Provide mentoring and coaching to less experienced engineering team members.
Reviews designs of other engineers for compliance with company quality standards
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree in EE, EET, ESET, CE or related field with an Advanced degree strongly preferred and ten (10) or more years experience in Electronics Development required.
Schematic Capture and PCB Layout expertise
Component expertise
Continuously aware of new technologies as they relate to emerging technologies
Circuit simulation expertise
EMC design, testing and issue resolution expertise
Digital Electronic Development Skills, including Microprocessors and Microcontrollers
Firmware Development Skills
Capable of making changes and guiding development of firmware as it relates to system performance
System and circuit diagnostic tool experience
expert level (Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, In Circuit Debuggers, etc.)
Communication bus expertise (CAN, LIN, Flexray, Ethernet, etc)
Electronics manufacturing processes and equipment advanced knowledge in order to troubleshoot quality issues and warranty returns
Knowledge of Problem Solving methods (Red X, Six Sigma, 8D, etc)
Review and Analysis of data from capability studies
Ability to statistically analyze data.
Product dimensioning and tolerance analysis
High Voltage circuit design targeted for EV and Hybrid drive trains, battery monitoring and management, motor control, etc.
