RWJBH is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for our New Brunswick campus.
JOB SUMMARY:
Administers aerosol medication, Chest PT and related therapies including medical gas therapy per Physician orders or approved protocols. Performs rounds on all assigned patients to deliver appropriate care.
Assess and interprets patient status using Laboratory and Radiology results along with vital signs and other assessments to identify and provide appropriate care based on the specific needs identified.
Evaluates therapy orders for completeness, appropriateness, quality and effectiveness using Evidence-Based Practice Guidelines. Recommends changes in the care plan based on assessments and guidelines.Correctly completes all patient records and documentation according to department policy including patient assessment, plan of care, E-MAR, patient education and performance improvement fields.
Demonstrates knowledge and skill in the use of Oxygen Therapy, BiPAP, CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannulas for use in primary assignment area patient populations.
Knowledge and skill includes device and interface selection, application, operational verification and modes of therapy. Assess effectiveness of therapy. Reports any adverse reaction or side effects such as skin irritation. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in the use of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation in primary assignment area patient populations. Knowledge and skill includes device and interface selection, application, operational verification, troubleshooting, and modes of therapy. Assess effectiveness of therapy three times per shift. Reports any adverse reactions or side effects such as skin irritation.Performs basic/advanced therapeutic procedures as outlined under the scope of respiratory patient care within the section of the policy procedure manual.
Transcribes and implements Physician orders. Uses basic oxygen advanced assessment skills and patient information to maintain awareness of patient care needs.EDUCATION:
