    The University of Miami/UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Pharmacist Antimicrobial Stewardship.


    SUMMARY


    The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist shall carry out duties assigned by the Director and departmental policy and procedures.

    These functions shall be carried out in accordance with all state/federal laws, JCAHO standards, and hospital/departmental policies and procedures.


    CORE FUNCTIONS

    • Support the organization's Antimicrobial Stewardship goals and initiatives.
    • Assist in establishing and expanding clinical services in area of practice of Infectious Diseases. Evaluate antimicrobial medication orders accurately and safely.
    • Provide accurate, adequate, and timely drug information to the hospital's professional staff and providers.
    • Provide pharmacy consultation services to the medical staff (e.g. pharmacokinetic monitoring, IV to PO conversions, etc.).
    • Review requests for restricted antimicrobials.
    • Monitor, evaluate and intervene in patient pharmacotherapy to ensure effective, safe and economical patient care.
    • Advocate for optimal diagnostic testing and antimicrobial use to improve clinical outcomes, prevent drug resistance, and enhance safety.
    • Assist in the development of medication protocols, order sets, and facilitate medication utilization reviews and PI projects.
    • Provide mentorship and serve as a clinical resource for staff, pharmacy students, pharmacy residents, and other health care providers in area of expertise.
    • Participate in system-level antimicrobial stewardship research initiatives.
    • Prepare and deliver antimicrobial stewardship-related presentations to stakeholders and learners.

    CORE QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution (education verified)
    • License to practice pharmacy in the state of Florida
    • Completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency or 3 years of relevant clinical experience
    • Effective communication skills
    • Ability to effectively interpret and use data
    • Demonstrated ability to teach, guide, lead, and mentor other professionals
    Preferred Qualifications


    • Completion of a PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Infectious Diseases
    • Board Certified Infectious Diseases Pharmacist (BCIDP)
    • Previous experience working in an integrated healthcare delivery system
