Century Publishing is locally owned and is one of the largest publication printers in the Inland Northwest. We are recognized for superior print quality and personalized service. Since we opened our doors in 1971, Century Publishing has focused on exceeding each customer's printing expectations. We are currently looking for a General Worker/Entry Level Bindery helper to inspect magazines, box and stack magazines on pallets. This position will continually learn aspects of operating bindery equipment. This is an entry level position. No experience necessary. A candidate who is mechanically inclined would be an exceptional fit. The work area is climate controlled and the work week is typically Monday through Friday. This position has periods of mandatory overtime hours.

DAY SHIFT (Typical Work Schedules based on demand):

8hr shift schedules: Openings on two separate overlapping shifts. One Starting at 6:00AM and ending at 2:30PM. Another starting at 9:00AM and ending at 5:30PM with a 30-minute lunch from 11:30AM-12:00 PM for both shifts. Monday - Friday, for approximately 40 hours per week.

Overtime schedule: Start times remain the same (6:00AM and 9:00AM), but typically end at 4:30PM and 7:30PM respectively.

Position Purpose:

The Bindery General Worker/ Entry Level Bindery helper will assist in the operation of bindery equipment, Inspect magazines, box and stack magazines on pallets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Requires working 8–12hour shifts. Overtime is mandatory, based on production needs.
• Various equipment functions including; loading material, inspecting/packaging finished product, driving forklift/Electric pallet jacks and assist Equipment Operator to maintain quality and timely production.
• Learning basic machine skills while assisting Equipment Operator with setup, production and maintenance.
• Reviewing and comprehending Job Tickets and related paperwork.
• Consistently demonstrate good communication and cooperation skills with co-workers and management.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Consistently maintain an orderly, clean and safe work place.
• Other related duties and assignments as required.

Basic Qualifications:

• EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, verbalize, analyze, and interpret a variety of written and oral instructions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to co-workers and management.
• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to consistently perform basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure - whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Position requires the proficient use of a ruler.
• REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and troubleshoot in a variety of production situations with minimal assistance.
• PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The ability to repeatedly lift or move up to 30 pounds for an entire shift. The ability to perform repetitive motions including bending, stooping, twisting and standing (on a hard surface) for an entire shift. The ability to repeatedly grasp and control handfuls of printed material to maintain productivity.
• WORK ENVIRONMENT: The ability to maintain a high awareness of quality, productivity and safety within a noisy environment within a close proximity to moving machines, equipment and other employees.
