- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) rates range from $24.02/hr to $33.48/hr.
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) rates range from $18.83/hr to $29.40/hr.
- Process specimens for analysis.
- MLTs perform Moderately Complex, or Waived tests; perform High Complexity testing with oversight of a Medical Laboratory Scientist, or with result review by a Supervisor/Manager.
- MLSs perform High Complexity Testing without direct supervision.
- Meet established testing protocols with precision, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Recognize critical, abnormal, and unacceptable test results.
- Identify problems and participate in test development and methodology evaluation.
- Perform and document quality control.
- Inform supervisors of incidents.
- Operate and maintain equipment.
- Enter patient information into the system while ensuring confidentiality.
- Monitor and maintain supplies.
- Maintain knowledge of techniques, instruments, and physiological conditions affecting test results.
- Assist with training new employees.
- Create a safe work environment by following safety guidelines.
- Adhere to laboratory and hospital policies and procedures.
- Follow compliance guidelines for specimen processing.
- Engage professionally with customers and peers.
- Demonstrate dependability and independent judgment.
- Medical Laboratory Scientist:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field AND completion of a Medical Technology program OR related experience.
- Experience in a hospital laboratory and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Medical Lab Technician:
- Associate degree in laboratory science with certification OR equivalent education and experience.
- Experience in a hospital laboratory and familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
- New York License Required for NY Locations.
- ASCP Certifications such as MT(ASCP), MLS (ASCP), MLT(ASCP), CLA, or equivalent preferred.
