    About the Role

    As a Backend Engineer at iCapital, you will have a pivotal role in designing and implementing the core systems fueling our platform. We are seeking talented engineers who can develop high-performance APIs and applications that are user-friendly. Beyond technical skills, we value team members who are passionate and dedicated to delivering top-notch products for our clients.

    You will collaborate closely with our Product Management team to define requirements, review ongoing work, and address any issues discovered during testing.

    Our platform operates on a micro-services architecture with services crafted in Scala, Ruby, and Python. If you are not yet familiar with our tech stack, fret not, as you will have the chance to learn and master these tools on the job with guidance from our leadership and mentors.

    Responsibilities

    • Developing cloud native services with Scala utilizing open-source frameworks like Akka, ZIO, etc.
    • Creating unit and integration tests using Scala Test
    • Active involvement in stand-up meetings
    • Participating in Peer Code Reviews as part of our SDLC and Change Management Process

    Qualifications

    • BS/BA in Software Engineering
    • Over 6 years of experience in web-based app development
    • Familiarity with Scala or Java is advantageous
    • Knowledge of Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality is a strong asset
    • Proven knowledge of relational and NoSQL database concepts and modeling
    • Keen interest in learning new technologies
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication abilities
    • Collaborative mindset towards software development

    Benefits

    The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000 annually. iCapital provides a comprehensive compensation package, including salary, equity options for all full-time staff, and an annual performance bonus. Employees also enjoy a wide-ranging benefits package encompassing employer-matched retirement plans, highly subsidized healthcare with additional coverages like dental, vision, telemedicine, and virtual mental health counseling, as well as parental leave and unrestricted paid time off (PTO).

    We believe in the power of teamwork and innovation. While most employees have the flexibility to work remotely for three or four days a week, certain roles require in-office presence based on their functions.
