    Role Overview


    The Pre-Sales Solutions Architect supports Sycomp's sales organization by providing deep technical expertise throughout the pre-sales lifecycle. This role collaborates closely with sales leadership, account teams, customers, technology partners, and internal delivery organizations to shape, validate, and position infrastructure solutions that align with customer requirements and Sycomp's delivery capabilities.

    This position is intended for a technically experienced architect who is comfortable engaging directly with customers, contributing to solution design discussions, and supporting complex enterprise opportunities. The role focuses on applying technical depth and practical experience to help sales teams move opportunities forward while ensuring solutions are realistic, supportable, and aligned with customer expectations.

    The Pre-Sales Solutions Architect operates as a technical contributor within the sales motion, supporting multiple opportunities concurrently and collaborating closely with others across the organization.

    In addition to core infrastructure expertise, this role brings working knowledge of software development concepts, automation, and modernization initiatives, enabling participation in discussions around modern application architectures, infrastructure automation, and platform evolution. This capability allows Sycomp to position solutions that integrate traditional infrastructure with modern, automated, and cloud-aligned operating models.

    Key Responsibilities


    Pre-Sales Technical Support

    • Support Sycomp sales and account teams during customer discovery, qualification, and solution development activities.
    • Participate in customer meetings to understand technical requirements, constraints, and success criteria.
    • Contribute to technical discussions, presentations, and whiteboard sessions with customers.
    • Respond to customer technical questions and RFPs; assist technology partners with coordinated responses.
    • Provide technical input and guidance to internal sales colleagues as needed.

    Solution Design & Validation

    • Contribute to the design of enterprise solutions spanning AI/ML compute, storage, storage networking, data protection, virtualization, security, hybrid cloud, and modernization initiatives.
    • Assist with solution sizing, architecture validation, and design refinement across traditional and modernized environments.
    • Support enterprise proof-of-concept (POC) efforts to validate proposed solutions.
    • Help design solutions addressing performance, scalability, resiliency, disaster recovery, and data migration requirements.
    • Participate in discussions involving automation, infrastructure-as-code concepts, and platform modernization.
    • Use vendor configuration and sizing tools to generate accurate bills of materials (BOMs).

    Modernization & Automation Context

    • Apply practical understanding of software development lifecycles, modernization strategies, and automation concepts when supporting customer solution design.
    • Participate in conversations around platform modernization, hybrid application architectures, and operational efficiency.
    • Collaborate with Sycomp delivery teams to ensure infrastructure solutions align with automated deployment and modern operational practices.
    • Support positioning of Sycomp solutions that bridge traditional enterprise infrastructure and modern cloud-native or automated environments.

    Sales-to-Delivery Collaboration

    • Support sales-to-delivery transitions by collaborating with delivery teams to review scope, assumptions, and solution intent.
    • Provide technical clarification during implementation as needed to ensure continuity between pre-sales and delivery.
    • Assist with resolving technical questions that arise during project execution.

    Partner & Internal Engagement

    • Work with Sycomp technology partners and vendors to stay aligned on solution capabilities and offerings.
    • Participate in partner briefings, training sessions, and technical enablement activities.
    • Maintain technical knowledge and obtain certifications through ongoing training and hands-on experience.
    • Share insights with internal teams based on recurring customer needs and solution patterns.

    Experience & Characteristics

    • Experience working in enterprise environments as a customer as well as a partner or systems integrator.
    • Strong background in designing, implementing, or supporting infrastructure solutions.
    • Hands-on experience with:
    • Data Center Infrastructure
    • Data migrations
    • Disaster recovery solutions
    • Diagnosing and resolving infrastructure performance issues
    • Strong technical depth combined with practical, real-world implementation experience.
    • Clear and effective communication skills, particularly in customer-facing settings.
    • Ability to work collaboratively across sales, delivery, and partner teams.
    • Working knowledge of software development concepts and application modernization approaches.
    • Familiarity with automation frameworks, scripting, or infrastructure automation concepts.
    • Ability to contextualize infrastructure solutions within modern DevOps-aligned operating models.

    Subject Matter Expertise


    Experience with some or all of the following technologies is expected:

    • Storage Technologies: Hitachi, Infinidat, Dell EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage, Cloudian, MinIO
    • Infrastructure and platform modernization concepts
    • Automation and operational efficiency initiatives

    Experience Requirements

    • 5+ years of experience designing, supporting, or implementing enterprise infrastructure solutions.
    • Experience supporting pre-sales activities, solution architecture, or senior engineering functions.
    • Experience working in multi-vendor, enterprise customer environments.
    • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities concurrently across multiple sales team members.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
    • Solid understanding of enterprise infrastructure architectures and operational considerations.
    • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Ability to operate effectively as an individual contributor within a collaborative sales environment

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working for a systems integrator or professional services organization.
    • Relevant technical certifications across infrastructure, storage, cloud, or security domains.
    • Experience supporting RFPs and formal proposal processes.
    • Ability to travel to customer meetings domestically and internationally.
