Job Description:

Working closely with the surgical team, this role involves preparing and organizing the operating room before surgeries, passing instruments during procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and assisting with patient care. It is essential to adhere to aseptic techniques and maintain positive relationships with patients, colleagues, and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the physician during surgery.
• Pass instruments and supplies as needed.
• Maintain sterile techniques for procedures.
• Help with patient draping and tissue retraction.
• Aid in controlling bleeding.
• Participate in emergency situations.
• Assist with documenting procedures.
• Prepare surgical supplies and assist with dressing wounds.
• Handle surgical specimens and maintain safety protocols.

Basic Requirements:

Minimum of one year of recent operating room experience or military equivalent in a scrub role. Surgical Technologist Certificate required within six months of hire, along with Basic Life Support certification.

Additional Qualifications:

• Proficiency in scrubbing various surgical cases, excluding open-heart surgeries.

Preferred Skills:

• Prior experience as a First Assistant is advantageous.

Notes:

• 10-hour shifts are available.
