    The Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) plays a pivotal role in setting and overseeing the accounting operations globally at Janus Henderson.

    This executive position requires a professional with a strong background in accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance.

    The CAO ensures the company's accounting activities are in alignment with internal policies, and regulatory requirements, and supports the organization's financial objectives.

    This role involves strategic planning, operational management, and leadership responsibilities, working closely with and sometimes deputizing for our Chief Financial Officer.


    • Financial Leadership and Strategy: Develop and implement accounting policies and strategies to ensure financial stability and growth. Collaborate with the executive committee members to support strategic financial planning and decision-making
    • Change Management: Acting as change champion, leading strategic review and transformation of our financial processes and systems. Promote continuous improvement of the global accounting function
    • Data Management: Having a good understanding of how data is sourced and used upstream and downstream of ledgers
    • Mergers and Acquisitions: Play key role in organic and inorganic (ie M&A) transactions that the group considers and undertakes
    • Treasury: Treasury management and control over firm's seed capital hedging
    • Accounting and Reporting: Oversee all accounting operations, including but not limited to, general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, and financial reporting. Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP, IFRS, Sarbanes Oxley and other applicable standards
    • Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes and regulations (including SEC related) Maintain internal controls to support the financial infrastructure and safeguard company assets

    Manage key relationships with Audit Committee and external auditors. Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and ensure that recommendations are implemented. Oversee risk management practices related to financial reporting and operations

    • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team capable of meeting the demands of a dynamic business environment. Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality
    • Operational Efficiency: Evaluate accounting and financial operations systems for efficiency and effectiveness. Implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
    • Serve as a key point of contact for accounting and financial matters. Communicate critical financial matters to the board, investors, external auditors, and other stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management role

    • In-depth knowledge of global accounting principles, financial reporting, and legislation/regulations (e.g., Proven track record of leading and developing a high-performing global accounting team
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the skill to navigate complex organizational structures and foster a collaborative team environment. Experience with financial systems and accounting software (such as SAP) implementation and optimization

    The base salary range for this position is $275,000 - $300,000. Individual bonuses are determined based on Company, department, team and individual performance.
