The Forest Stewardship Education Initiative educates forest landowners to better understand, manage and protect their forests (pre and post-fire) by developing a forest management plan, engage with natural resource professionals, and take advantage of cost-share opportunities that can help them meet their management goals.

The Post-Fire Forest Resilience education program aims to assist private forest landowners, as they begin the process of reversing the ecological, economic, environmental, aesthetic, and social impacts of the wildfires.

Forest Stewardship Community Education Specialist uses professional, adult community educational program concepts, to deliver standardized educational workshops to private, non-industrial, private forest landowners throughout California and applies established procedures and programs to address landowner needs.

Program delivery methods includes a mix of online and in-person formats.

Workshops focus on helping landowners become better forest stewards by helping them learn about forestry, forest management and post-fire forest resilience.

The Forest Stewardship Community Education Specialist utilizes standard practices in analyzing program content and delivery needs and determining effectiveness of current programs.

They will also assist in writing materials and helping to disseminate information through multiple platforms and help maintain and improve various websites.

The Forest Stewardship Community Education Specialist collaborates with, and reports to the Forest Stewardship Education Initiative Academic Coordinator and the Post-fire Forest Resilience Program Academic Coordinator on all assignments.

This position is a contract appointment that is 100% fixed, and ends on June 30, 2026, with the possibility of extension if funding permits.

The University reserves the right to make employment contingent upon successful completion of the background check.

This is a designated position requiring a background check and may require fingerprinting due to the nature of the job responsibilities.
