    Position Title: Assistant Librarian – Night Supervisor

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

    • Reports to the Director of the Library

    POSITIONS REPORTING TO THIS POSITION: YES __ NO X

    FLSA STATUS:

    • Salary
    • Night supervisor during Academic Year: M-Th 1pm-5pm, 6pm-10pm and Friday 8am-5:00pm – during summer months 8am – 5:00pm
    • It is expected this position will require approximately 40 hours/week to satisfactorily complete the job requirements.

    PURPOSE:

    • This position, under general supervision, independently performs, and is responsible for assisting the Director of the Library.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Supervision of circulation desk and student workers.
    • Responsible for closing the library with student workers
    • Responsible for cataloging of print and non-print material using OCLC's WMS (World Management System).
    • Coordinate yearly inventory of physical collection, deselection projects, and assist with collection development.
    • Provides research support and instructional services.
    • Designs, delivers, and assesses impact of information literacy instruction.
    • Maintain and develop LibGuides (library research guides).
    • Assist with library outreach, such as displays and promotion, collaborating with other departments on campus.
    • Responsible for Interlibrary Loan Services – lending, borrowing, in-house and statewide statistics.
    • Manage library course reserve materials communicating with faculty and staff to coordinate reserves.
    • Involved with the training and supervision of library personnel and student assistants.
    • Knowledge of circulation policies in the use of the automated circulation system.
    • Provide front desk coverage as needed.
    • Provide assistance on all equipment and materials to all patrons.
    • Archival organization and collection with the Director
    • In charge of the library when Director of the Library is absent.
    • Perform other jobs as assigned by the Director of the Library.
    • Compile statistics and maintain accurate records in areas of responsibility for use in annual report.
    • Develops policies and procedures within areas of responsibility.
    • Participate in team meeting, providing input and suggestions.
    • Provide continual evaluation of processes and procedures. Responsible for suggesting methods to improve area operations, efficiency and service to both internal and external customers.
    • Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Master's in Library Science required
    • Efficient knowledge of searching OCLC, online databases, computer programs and the Internet.
    • Knowledge of library practices and cataloging procedures preferred.
    • Must be organized and have good interpersonal skills with patrons and co-workers.
    • Ability to communicate effectively to various audiences, including students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, administration, and the community at large.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects/assignments concurrently and be very results-oriented.
    • Highly motivated and works well both independently and in a team environment.

    WORKING CONDITIONS: On location, work is generally performed indoors with ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. May periodically travel to assigned locations.
