    Medical Surgical ICU RNPosition Overview


    As a Medical Surgical ICU RN, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients in the intensive care unit.

    You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess, monitor, and manage patients with complex medical conditions. Your expertise in critical care nursing will be essential in ensuring positive patient outcomes.

    Responsibilities

    Conduct thorough assessments of patients upon admission and throughout their stay in the ICU.

    Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, cardiac rhythms, and other relevant parameters.

    Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.


    Treatment and Medication Administration:
    Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and blood products as prescribed by physicians.

    Manage pain control and provide comfort measures.

    Assist with procedures such as intubation, central line placement, and chest tube insertion.


    Collaboration and Communication:
    Work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.

    Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education and emotional support.


    Documentation and Record Keeping:
    Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records (EHR).

    Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses.


    Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving:
    Analyze complex patient situations and make informed decisions.

    Anticipate potential complications and take preventive measures.


    Quality Improvement and Safety:
    Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

    Adhere to infection control protocols and safety guidelines.

    Requirements

    Qualifications


    Education and Licensure:
    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.

    Current California RN license.

    Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care or medical-surgical nursing.

    ICU experience preferred.


    Certifications:
    Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.


    Skills:
    Strong assessment skills and ability to prioritize care.

    Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

    Proficiency in using electronic health record systems.

    Salary Range

    The salary range for this position is$125,000 to $160,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
