Respiratory Care Practitioner II - Memorial Regional Medical Center

Note: New graduates without prior experience are encouraged to apply as we will consider them for Respiratory Care Practitioner I roles.
Shifts: 6:45pm - 7:15am on a per-needed basis (PRN)

Job Summary:

The Respiratory Care Practitioner II plays a crucial role in delivering respiratory care by conducting patient assessments, creating plans, implementing interventions, providing education, and evaluating outcomes.

Tasks include the performance of all respiratory care procedures such as oxygen and aerosolized medication delivery, ventilator management, bronchial hygiene therapy, diagnostics, and patient/staff education. Monitoring patient responses to therapies and recommending adjustments based on assessments.

Essential Functions:

• May act as the shift "Charge Therapist," ensuring adequate respiratory care staff coverage for patient care areas.
• Assist physicians in various procedures such as bronchoscopy, tracheotomy intubation, and tracheostomy/endotracheal tube changes.
• Conduct CPR and airway management techniques following AHA ACLS protocol.
• Perform mechanical ventilator setup, maintenance, and evaluation.
• Serve as a preceptor to new team members and students.
• Assess patient's physical status and perform treatments according to physician orders.
• Administer prescribed therapies and recommend adjustments to achieve therapeutic goals.

Education:
• Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Care school (required).
• Bachelor's Degree related to Respiratory Therapy/Healthcare Admin/Business Admin (preferred).

Required Licensing & Certifications:
• Current Respiratory Care License in the state of practice (required).
• National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialed (required).
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (preferred).
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, CPFT, RPFT, ACCS certifications (specific requirements).

Experience:

• Two years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or five years as a CRT (required).

Skills & Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
• Good customer service and organizational skills.
• Proficient in non-invasive respiratory therapy equipment and procedures.
• Knowledge of EKGs, ABG analysis, airway management, and patient assessment.
