- Providing care of residents: universal workers are responsible for following service plans outlining each resident's specific care. Duties would include, but are not limited to providing personal care services, such as transferring, bathing, feeding, toileting, grooming, dressing, and end of life care. Other duties include observation, reporting of changes in condition, taking weights, vital signs, infection control, resident's rights, and Bear Creek policies and procedures.
- Observation, evaluation, and reporting: strong ability to observe physical, emotional. psychological changes in residents and the environment. Be able to operate standard equipment such as blood pressure cuff, thermometor, pulse, oximeter. Know what and to whom to properly report resident changes and concerns.
- Maintaining required training: Universal workers are required to maintain proper certifications required by local and state licensing agencies which include ongoing in services trainings, accreditations, specific coursework, and certification. Basic state requirements may include, but are not limited to first aid, CPR, dementia, mental health, nurse delegation, Med aide, lift safe, CEU's, and orientation to include basic skills check-offs.
- Housekeeping Duties: universal workers are required to maintain the housekeeping duties assigned including, carpet and furniture shampooing, common area cleaning, laundry, and all other duties assigned.
- Continuous Quality Improvement: Universal workers are responsible for following and complying with the Bear Creek CQI program. Universal workers are required to take steps to ensure that services delivered are complete and follow the residents designed service plan. Identifying issues not supporting quality services will be reported to the immediate supervisor for correction. Safety committee participation as needed. Ongoing awareness of improvements with positive feedback and participation.
- Maintaining compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines: universal workers are responsible for following all local, state, and federal regulations as they apply to services delivered to all residents. This involves care and documentation and compliance with HIPPA, OSHA, and blood-borne pathogen guidelines.
- Safety Compliance: Universal workers are responsible for ensuring that they work in a safe manner and that unsafe actions are to be corrected. Compliance with safety committee standards is required. Should workplace injuries occur, the staff is to assist the Executive Director and Health Services Director when required with the investigation, return to work, and management of the injured worker communication with care provider and Bear Creek.
- Team Effectiveness: Universal workers are responsible for fostering teamwork with co-workers, showing initiative in overcoming obstacles, taking actions that assists others beyond job responsibilities, and having a positive impact on co-workers, residents, and visitors.
- Perform other duties as assigned and needed.
- Required - High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred - Certification as required by state.
- Required - Must have 1 year of hands-on experience or similar function.
- Preferred - Long Term care experience working with the elderly or medically fragile individuals.
- Experience with Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel.
- Required - Comply with state requirement.
- Preferred - Fundamentals, basic caregiving, Body Systems, Documentation and Reporting.
- Communication/Interpersonal Skills.

- Communicate with others accurately both verbally and in legible writing in a timely matter.

- Convey caring, respect, sensitivity, compassion, empathy, tolerance, patience, and a healthy attitude towards residents, staff, and visitors as well as outside entities.
- Understand and follow Bear Creek policies and procedures.
- Not pose a threat to self or others.
- Function effectively in situations of uncertainty and stress inherent in providing nursing care and housekeeping as well as adapt to changing situations in the environment.
- Accept responsibility, accountability, and ownership of one's actions.
- Seek supervision and help from peers in a timely manner.
- Walk, stand, bend, or sit for no less than 6 hours.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull no less than 80lbs.
- Move, position, turn, transfer, assist with lifting or carrying without injury.
- Handle and operate equipment such as lists, blood pressure cuffs, computers.
- Coordinate hand/eye movement.
- Perform daily personal care tasks for residents.
- operate and calibrate equipment per manual specifications.
- Read and follow specific resident care plans.
- Walk, stand, bend or sit for 6-12 hours in a health care setting while performing physical activities requiring energy without jeopardizing the safety of clients, self, and others.

We are a small memory care community in Molalla, Oregon designed to care exclusively for those experiencing Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
Our community consists of up to a maximum of 68 residents. We provide individualized care plans which means each person will receive attentive and detailed care specific to their needs.
Our Bear Creek family has a full-time nurse as well as a care team able to assist with activities of daily living 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
