    JOB SUMMARY
    • Work collaboratively in a team setting to develop and enhance robust manufacturing and metallurgical processes that support the company's growth in the aerospace and industrial investment casting sectors.
    • Develop the comprehensive metallurgical DS/SX casting process from gate design to establishing shelling parameters.
    • Develop, uphold, and educate on best practices in investment casting procedures to ensure CPP's business objectives are met.
    • Pinpoint issues, explore alternative solutions, and implement problem-solving strategies that impact yield, rework, and overall product quality using a systematic approach.
    • Occasionally take on a leadership role in resolving cross-functional challenges.
    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Decipher customer specifications concerning the establishment of internal written NDT specifications.
    • Formulate the overall metallurgical casting process from gate design to setting casting parameters.
    • Evaluate the physical structure and behavior of metals and metal distribution systems within DS/SX systems.
    • Analyze metallurgical failures using root cause analysis.
    • Report on research findings and completed tests based on data-informed decisions.
    • Enhance process yields through various data analysis techniques to identify process variables.
    • Record work procedures and processes.
    • Regularly inspect production lots to ensure adherence to established techniques and maintain result consistency.
    • Identify, assess, and implement new process technologies to expand manufacturing and product capabilities.
    • Collaborate closely with other departments to achieve organizational objectives.
    • Foster a positive work environment through professional conduct and effective communication.
    • Enhance labor efficiency and reduce costs.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a Metallurgist or Process Engineer in the DS/SX investment casting industry. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities with increasing levels of responsibility.
    • Certifications/Licenses: None
    • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Proficiency in DS/SX casting processes, shell parameters, and metallurgical impacts. Familiarity with solidification modeling. Familiarity with DS/SX starter design and track record of enhancing DS/SX yields and product quality. Proficient in interpreting customer drawings and working with models (e.g., NX9 or higher, Solidworks). Strong written and verbal communication skills for developing processing and work instructions, as well as interacting with customer engineering teams. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and documentation skills. Assertive and risk-taking mindset.
    WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • Office Setting. Occasional weekend work may be required.
    • Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of sitting/standing, ability to lift up to 20lbs, extended computer usage.
    • Expected Travel: 5%
    • Required PPE: Compliance with necessary PPE in designated work areas.
    • Safety Gear: Mandatory safety glasses and steel-toed shoes in all plant areas.
