- Provide sign language interpreting services to deaf or hard of hearing students in classroom settings, including lectures, discussions, and group activities.
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) or other sign systems, and vice versa, to facilitate munication between deaf or hard of hearing students and hearing individuals.
- Support deaf or hard of hearing students in understanding and following classroom instructions, assignments, and educational materials.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to ensure that acmodations and modifications are implemented to support the academic and social needs of deaf or hard of hearing students.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students, parents, and school personnel.
- Stay current on best practices and developments in sign language interpreting and deaf education to provide high-quality services to students.
- Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreting, Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field required.
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID certification) required.
- Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or other recognized interpreting certification required.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other sign systems.
- Strong interpersonal and munication skills, with the ability to effectively convey spoken language into sign language and vice versa.
- Knowledge of deaf culture, munication modes, and educational practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced educational environment.
- Experience working with deaf or hard of hearing individuals in an educational setting preferred.
