    Job Title: Safety Manager - Heavy Civil Projects

    Job Overview:

    This pivotal role empowers you to establish comprehensive safety initiatives for various heavy civil projects in the New York City region. You will work closely with project teams to embed safety excellence at every project phase, fostering a culture of proactive prevention and continuous enhancement.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute robust safety programs tailored to the specific requirements of complex heavy civil projects such as railways, highways, bridges, and tunnels.
    • Perform thorough safety inspections, proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks before they escalate into incidents.
    • Facilitate engaging safety training and educational sessions for all project staff to promote industry best practices.
    • Ensure strict adherence to all OSHA and DOT regulations across project sites.
    • Cultivate an environment of open communication and collaboration, where prioritizing safety is embedded in all decisions and actions.
    • Collaborate strategically with project leaders to seamlessly integrate safety into project planning, execution, and completion.
    • Lead detailed investigations of safety events, pinpointing root causes and implementing corrective measures to prevent future incidents.
    • Utilize state-of-the-art safety technology and data analysis to consistently monitor and enhance safety performance on projects.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction safety, with a focus on heavy civil projects.
    • Preferred certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Manager in Safety (CMIS).
    • Proven track record of developing and implementing safety programs for large-scale construction projects.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to drive collaboration across diverse teams.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, utilizing data-driven approaches to address safety issues.
    • Positive outlook and dedication to continual learning and enhancement in the safety field.
