    Description

    Summary:

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Under the direct supervision of the Director(s) of Rehabilitation and/or Physical/Occupational Therapist, Athletic Trainer provides service to physically impaired patients of all ages including treatment, program planning and implementation, related documentation and communication for hospital outpatients and contract athletic services. Directs patient participation and selected tasks to restore, reinforce and enhance the functional performance. Facilitates the learning of these skills to promote functional performance and functional independence under the general supervision of the Director(s) of Rehabilitation or direct supervision of Physical Therapist/Occupational Therapist. For contract services, the athletic trainer provides treatment, first aid and sports medicine coverage for athletic events according to the contract with designated school. Activities of this position are focused in accordance with physician orders, and affiliate policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities:

    QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

    1. Completion of a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree in the field of athletic training or related field with board certification/Michigan state licensure.
    2. Current BOC Athletic Trainer Certification and State Licensed.
    3. Previous experience and knowledge of isokinetic testing/evaluations and rehabilitation, isotonic progressive resistance programs and sport specific training program design.
    4. Knowledge of medical terminology.
    5. Must have a valid Michigan Drivers License.
    6. Must have the ability to work independently and organize several projects.
    7. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
    8. Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
    9. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
    10. Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
    11. Must have the ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
