    Senior Electrical Engineer Job Description

    HDR is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team serving the Nebraska/Iowa Market.

    The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse clients, including Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Science and Technology, Federal, Industrial, Mission Critical, and Commercial clients. They should also be willing to mentor and train younger electrical engineers.

    The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead a team and design projects from start to finish. This includes coordinating with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing staff, and all other team members.

    Duties will include:

    • Providing detailed designs and coordination of facilities with team members
    • Preparing construction documents with BIM/CADD platforms
    • Coordinating workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule
    • Edit and prepare design specifications
    • Review fee estimates, cost opinions, and write technical documents
    • Perform QA/QC review of construction documents and technical reports
    • Select equipment using vendor software and communicate with sales reps
    • Track and meet design budgets
    • Perform load calculations
    • Attend and lead design meetings with other team members
    • Provide construction administration service throughout all phases of construction
    • Direct the activities of other electrical engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering (Electrical emphasis) or related field
    • PE license
    • Minimum of 10 years of related experience; this must include a proven successful history of designing lighting and electrical systems for various types of buildings including one or more of the following: healthcare, laboratory facilities, federal, water/wastewater, utility, mission critical, and commercial office facilities.
    • Strong communication skills, self-motivated and organized
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
    • Work both independently and with a project team
    • Some travel will be required
    • An attitude and commitment to our employee-owned culture is a must

    Preferred Qualifications

    • BIM/Revit experience is highly preferred
    • Experience in sustainable design/LEED
    • Local candidates are preferred
