- Plans and administers professional nursing care in the Outpatient Surgery Center. Directs the work of technical or assistive staff supporting the operating room. Oversees room and instrument set-up, ensures appropriate levels of supplies or medications, and transfers the patient to and from the operating room. Monitors the patient and assists the surgeon during the procedure. Demonstrate competent clinical skills; utilize critical thinking to identify and meet patient needs; achieve positive patient outcomes through group process; display leadership traits that contribute to attainment of patient and departmental goals; assist with unit QI/research projects; identify actual legal/ethical issues and implement appropriate nursing actions.
